The Apple tasting at McShane’s on Saturday September 26th was a delicious event with the perfect sunny weather.

If anything can be learned from looking at the rating sheets the participants turned in, it’s that the people’s idea of what makes a great apple differ widely. Out of 27 varieties tasted, 12 different varieties were picked for first place by at least one taster. The overall first place was a tie between Jonagold and Belle de Boskoop, both varieties with a bit of a tang to go with the sweetness, with Belle being considerably tangier. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon.
